Information
Greetings!
We
are excited that you have chosen to make the
investment in your writing career and calling to
attend the 2006 Glorieta Christian Writers
Conference! In its eight-year history, it has
quickly grown to be one of the premier writers
conferences in the country and we are expecting
great things for the 2006 conference!
Your
registration packet will include several items that
are noteworthy. First is the "Attendee Survey."
This survey is very important to us. Please take
time to fill it out and fax or mail to Linda Gilden
as soon as possible. Her contact information is on
the form. Next, if you have not already printed and
mailed in this form from the website, you will find
the Meet-The-Pros Sign-Up Form. Please review the
available "Pros" from the list on the website, make
your selections and send this form back to
CLASServices as soon as possible. Your
Meet-The-Pros Roundtables will be assigned on a
first-come, first-served basis. You will receive a
registration packet on-site that will include
tickets to the Roundtables for which you are
signed-up. If you do not have Internet access, we
will be happy to mail or fax you the Meet-The-Pros
list. Please call us at 800/433-6633 to request
one.
Additionally,
you will find forms to help you take advantage of
some of the for-fee critique services. Please
review them thoroughly and use these forms to
sign-up directly with the appropriate
person.

We will do our best to assist you in finding a
roommate if you prefer to share a room. Please let
us know your roommate needs when you
register.
Location
The
LifeWay Glorieta Conference Center is located just
north of historic Santa Fe, New Mexico, in the
beautiful Sangre De Cristo Mountains at an
elevation of about 7,500 feet and is fully
wheelchair accessible. The Albuquerque Airport is
usually the best and least expensive airport for
service to Glorieta, though Great Lakes flies into
Santa Fe. Commercial shuttle service is available
from either airport. Complete transportation
datails will be sent with your registration packet.
Lodging
& Meals
The
LifeWay Glorieta Christian Conference Center has a
variety of room and meal packages available to make
the GCWC as affordable and enjoyable as possible.
Please call them directly at 800/797-4222 for
complete information and reservations. If you wish
to share a room with someone, please let us know.
We keep a list of those who are looking for
roommates and will do our best to pair you up with
an appropriate person. Be sure to mention that you
are with the GCWC when you make your reservations.
Day
guests (those attending but not lodging at
Glorieta) will also need to register directly with
Glorieta. There is a $15 per day fee for day guests
paid directly to Glorieta.
Check
in time is 4:00 p.m. and checkout is noon. When
possible, guests will be permitted to register
earlier, though rooms may not be ready until after
4:00 p.m. For those checking out Sunday, you can
store your luggage at the front desk until your
departure. All hotel rooms, apartments and most
cottages are equipped with telephones. You can
receive phone calls directly in your room without
the calls first going through the front desk. Also,
each room has a modem jack. Phones in guest rooms
must be activated with a credit card at the front
desk.
Ground
Transportation (Times
subject to change).
If
you will be flying, you will want to fly into the
Santa Fe or Albuquerque airport-though the
Albuquerque airport usually provides the best
schedules and least expensive prices. Herrera Santa
Fe Shuttle provides service between the Albuquerque
International Airport and The LifeWay Glorieta
Christian Conference Center-about 75 miles or about
two hours travel time. You may make reservations
with the shuttle service by calling 888/833-2300 at
least 24 hours in advance of your arrival. Herrera
Santa Fe Shuttle's office hours are Monday-Friday.
8:00 A.M. -8:00 p.m.., Mountain Time. Currently
they offer four departures and three return trips
each day. (The current schedule is: Leaving
Albuquerque for Glorieta at 8:30 a.m., 3:20 p.m.,
5:30 p.m., 8:20 p.m., and leaving Glorieta for
Albuquerque at 4:15 a.m., 5:40 a.m., and 10:10 a.m.

schedule changes.) Each person is responsible for
paying the Santa Fe Shuttle directly. They take
cash, credit card, or traveler's checks. Fares from
Albuquerque to Glorieta are currently $32 one-way
or $58 round trip.

Attire
Although
the weather is expected to be cool in New Mexico in
October, please remember that we will be in
"climate control." If you get cold or hot easily, I
suggest you bring clothes with a removable jacket
or sweater so you will be comfortable. You will
want a light jacket in the evening. Keeping in mind
that you will be meeting with editors, we suggest
that you dress in nice business casual or dressy
sportswear. However, you are free to dress in
whichever type of clothing is most comfortable for
you. The LifeWay Glorieta Christian Conference
Center is in a beautiful mountain setting that begs
you to take a hike. If you are apt to be so
inclined, you will want to bring appropriate
footwear.
Individual
Consultations with the
Faculty
All
attendees will have the opportunity for several
private consultations with the Editors and
Professional Writers. Sign-ups will be open after
the faculty introduces themselves at the Opening
Session Wednesday evening. To make the best use of
your time, please visit the websites of the
publishers represented and review their writers
guidelines prior to attendance. (Publishers'
websites can be found in the Christian Writers
Market Guide.)
Conference
Recording
All
sessions at the GCWC will be professionally
recorded by Manna Taping and will be available
on-site following each session and after the
conference at www.mannatapes.com.
If you are unable to attend, the tapes will offer
an excellent education. We request that you not
bring your own taping equipment as it is
distracting to others.
Tips

CEU's
If
you need Continuing Education Units, you may be
eligible to receive them for your attendance at the
GCWC. The Glorieta Christian Writers Conference
will qualify for CEUs with many seminaries,
educational institutions, and professional
associations. Because each organization's
requirements and forms are different, you will need
to contact the organization from which you wish to
obtain CEUs. If we can easily provide the required
information, we will not charge you additional
fees. However, if the organization asks for
information outside the norm, we will charge you
the additional amount to cover our extra expenses
in generating extra reports, etc.
On-Site
Resources
We
will have a complete selection of the faculty's
books available at the GCWC, as well as books and
tapes and additional supplies to enhance your
speaking and writing. Lauren Briggs will be
overseeing all product sales. If you wish to sell
your books, please contact her at ramona@classervices.com
and request a consignment form. Remember a 20%
consignment fee will be taken from all sales. The
enclosed CLASS Communiqué will allow you to
pre-shop by reviewing the various resources
available through CLASS.
