October 22-26, 2008

Greetings!
We are excited that you have chosen to make the investment in your writing career and calling to attend the 2008 Glorieta Christian Writers Conference! In its ten year history, it has become one of the premier writers conferences in the country and we are expecting great things in 2008 also!

If you have not already done so, please print out the following forms and return them to us as soon as possible (October 12 deadline). First, we need the "Attendee Survey" which is very important to us. Please take a few minutes now to fill it out and fax or mail it back to us.

Next, we need the Editor/Agent appointment form. To assure an appointment with the editor or agent who is most important to you, you may request one appointment at the time of your registration. Based on availability, early registration practically guarantees your preferred choice. In case your first editor/agent choice is not available, indicate your second choice. If you have not already sent us this information, make your selections and send this form back to CLASServices as soon as possible. Editor/agent appointments will be announced on site and additional appointments will be available after the opening session.

LODGING & MEALS
The LifeWay Glorieta Conference Center has a variety of reasonably priced room and meal packages available. We encourage you to stay on site to make the most of the conference. Please call them directly at 800/797 4222 for complete information and reservations and mention that you are with the GCWC. Day guests (those attending but not lodging at Glorieta) will also need to register directly with LifeWay Glorieta Conference Center and pay them a $15 per day fee. If you are looking for a roommate, do not ask for one from LifeWay Glorieta, but e-mail Justine@classervices.com with a message with your name and arrival and departure dates ready to cut and paste into the Weekly Update. Be sure to include your contact information.

Check-in time is 4:00 p.m. and checkout is noon. When possible, guests will be permitted to register earlier, though rooms may not be ready until after 4:00 p.m. For those checking out Sunday, you can store your luggage at the front desk until your departure. All hotel rooms, apartments and most cottages are equipped with telephones. Most rooms have a modem jack and many have wireless high-speed internet. WIFI is also available at the New Mexico Hall where you register for your room. You can activate guestroom phones with a credit card at the front desk.

At this time, the LifeWay Glorieta Conference Center has not made a final decision on extended dining hours. If you are arriving before dinner on Wednesday or departing after lunch on Sunday and need a meal on site, check with LifeWay Glorieta Conference Center to see if the dining room will be open. These meals will be an additional cost. If the dining room is not open, the Chuck Wagon with fast food may be open. Otherwise, plan on eating in Santa Fe or Albuquerque.

GROUND TRANSPORTATION
If you will be flying, you will want to fly into the Santa Fe or Albuquerque airport, although the Albuquerque airport usually provides the best schedules and least expensive prices. Roadrunner provides shuttle service between the Albuquerque International Airport and the LifeWay Glorieta Conference Center which is about 90 miles or about two hours travel time. Call 505/424-3367 at least 48 hours in advance of your arrival. Roadrunner’s office hours are 8:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Mountain Time, seven days a week. They will group rides by time of arrival and, when possible, try to have customers waiting for no more than 45 minutes. Each person is responsible for paying Roadrunner directly by cash or check. Fares from Albuquerque to Glorieta are currently $45 one-way, which includes tax by no gratuity. For shuttle service pickups earlier than 6 a.m. or later than 8:00 p.m. you will need to arrange a private shuttle at a price of $140 one way.

If you will be driving, the LifeWay Glorieta Conference Center can provide you with a map and directions. You can also visit their web site at www.lifeway.com for location details.

If you are renting a car and wish to share a ride with others, or if you are flying in and wish to share a ride with another attendee, please e-mail Justine@classervices.com with your date and time of arrival, airline and cell phone number and e-mail address in a post-ready blurb with your contact information if you want it in the Weekly Update. If you want to share a ride, it is customary to pay for part of the car rental and gas cost. With the Glorieta Christian Writers Conference schedule, this is usually the best option and with "shared rides" it is often less expensive than the shuttle. Because October is a tourist destination in October, we suggest that you make any flights and car rentals as soon as possible.

ATTIRE
Although the weather is expected to be cool, but could be cold, in New Mexico in October, please remember that we will be in "climate control." We suggest you visit a weather web site such as www.weather.com and search by zip code 87535 to aid you in packing appropriate clothing. If you get cold or hot easily, we suggest you bring clothes with a removable jacket or sweater so you will be comfortable. You will want a coat or jacket in the evening. Keeping in mind that you will be meeting with editors, we encourage you to dress in nice business casual or dressy sportswear. However, you are free to dress in whichever type of clothing is most comfortable for you.

The LifeWay Glorieta Conference Center is in a beautiful mountain setting that begs you to take a hike. If you are apt to be so inclined, you will want to bring appropriate footwear.

TIPS
Whether you've previously attended a writers conference or not, to make this the most productive and enjoyable conference check out the "TIPS" at www.GlorietaCWC.com. There you will also find Marita’s article, published in Writer’s Digest, "The Four P’s of Writers Conference Success."

Glorieta is located just north of Santa Fe in the beautiful Sangre de Cristo Mountains at an elevation of about 7,500 feet. At this altitude, it is imperative that you drink plenty of water. If you are used to lower altitudes, water will help counteract the effects of altitude sickness. LifeWay Glorieta Conference Center sells bottled water. Also, LifeWay Glorieta Conference Center is fully wheelchair accessible.

CONTINUING EDUCATION UNITS (CEU)
The Glorieta Christian Writers Conference will qualify for CEUs with many seminaries, educational institutions and professional associations. Because each organization’s requirements and forms are different, you will need to contact the organization from which you wish to obtain CEUs. If we can easily provide the required information, we will not charge you additional fees. However, if the organization asks for information outside the norm, we will charge you an additional amount to cover our expenses.

ON SITE RESOURCES
We will have a selection of the faculty's books available at the GCWC, as well as other books, tapes and additional supplies to enhance your speaking and writing. Additionally, you may feature your own books in the Resource Center. If you wish to sell your books on site, contact Ramona@classervices.com and request a consignment form. Remember, a 20% consignment fee will be taken from all sales.

E MAIL MONTHLY UPDATES
If you are not receiving the CLASS Communique', go to the CLASServices web site at www.classervices.com and click on the designated link located on the main page.

CANCELLATION POLICY
Cancellations must be received in writing 30 days in advance. Written cancellations received before the 30 day deadline will be promptly refunded, less a nontansferable $100. Cancelations received after the 30 days will be eligible for transfer to another CLASSeminar but will be subject to a $50 tansfer fee. Cancellations received within 72 hours of the event are nonrefundable nontransferable.

We are looking forward to seeing you at the GCWC. It is going to be a great five days. Be sure to come well rested. Please feel free to call us at 505/899-4283 with your questions.

In His Service,

Gerry Wakeland
