SHIRLEY'S
MOST REQUESTED
TOPICS
Prayer:
Life's Ultimate Privilege
"I want men everywhere to lift up holy hands in
prayer...." 1 Timothy 2:8
If prayer is life's ultimate privilege, why is it
so hard to pray? Why don't seminars with "10 easy
steps to a great prayer life" work for us? Have you
tried daily devotions but find that your schedule
crowds out your time with the Lord and you end up
feeling like a failure and laden with guilt? Do you
feel as though your prayers go unanswered or
unheard? Shirley has a fresh approach to sharing
how prayer can be both effective and a privilege
and how it results in having a closer relationship
with our Lord.
Leaving
a Legacy that Lasts Forever
"Her children arise and call her blessed; her
husband also, and he praises her." Proverbs 31:28
Have you ever wanted to write your own eulogy or
epitaph so you could insure kind words being said
about you? Do you speak with "wisdom and faithful
instruction on your tongue"? Is your life a
reflection of godly living? Are you making choices
that positively affect your family, your friends,
your co-workers, your life? What kind of legacy are
you leaving? Shirley shares her own struggle in
leaving a lasting legacy while offering insight and
wisdom that can help you change your legacy to one
of eternal and lasting value.
'The Fragrance of Memories' is a shortened
version of Leaving a Legacy and is often requested
as a 30-45 minute presentation for luncheons or
teas.
Choosing
God's Way or My Way
"For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither
are your ways, my ways." Isaiah 55:8
Choices, choices, and more choices. Every day is
filled with choices that we must make. Do our
choices reflect God's way or our way? Joshua 24:15
says: "...but as for me and my house, we will serve
the Lord." How do we do that? How can I make my
household serve the Lord? How do I know if my
choices are God's or mine? You won't want to miss
hearing how Shirley shares tangible ways to make
choices that will lead to a life of obedience and
choosing God's way.
Who,
Me? A Clay Pot?
"But we have this treasure in jars of clay to
show that this all-surpassing power is from God and
not from us." 2 Corinthians 4:7
We are all clay pots but we contain a great
Treasure, yet we often feel powerless in our
circumstances? Do you ever feel worthless and
unable to accept who you are? Is it hard to realize
that your body is the temple where Christ lives?
Shirley brings hope and insight as she shares ways
to encounter the One who makes, molds, shapes and
reshapes our individual clay pots. She shares how
God can take our broken, shattered, worthless lives
and continually reshape them to hold His great
Treasure.
Getting
Along With Almost Anybody
"If it is possible, as much as it depends on me,
let me be at peace with all men." Romans 12:18
As a contributing author to Florence and Marita
Littauer's book, Getting Along With Almost
Anybody, Shirley shares that it really is
possible to get along with nearly anyone, once you
understand them. The question is often asked, "What
if I don't want to get along with everybody?" Jesus
tells us in Matthew 22:39 that it isn't an option:
We are to "love our neighbor as ourselves." How do
we do that? By understanding how people function
and by learning that many of the aggravations we
experience with people are not intentional, but
just part of their Personality. Learn how God has
created our unique Personalities and how we use our
strengths and weaknesses in relating to one
another. When Shirley discovered how our God-given
Personalities affect our everyday circumstances,
her own relationships with her husband, children,
grandchildren, and friends changed drastically. To
understand the Personalities is to understand other
people as well as yourself.
To
Be or Not To Be...a Mentor
"Teach the older women to be reverent in the way
they live...then they can train the younger
woman..." Titus 2:3-4
Have you ever been encouraged in your role as a
single person, wife, mother, or career woman? Do
you desire insight or spiritual guidance that will
help you grow in the Lord? Do you have someone in
your life that has helped you along life's journey,
encouraging and challenging you to be all you can
be? Titus 2:4 says that older women are to teach
the younger women... to be a mentor. No matter what
our age, we are always to be an example and an
encourager to those younger than us. Each of us is
a mentor to someone, and whether we admit it or
not, we are constantly influencing and impacting
the lives of others. The question is: what kind of
impact are we making? Shirley will help you
discover how we can make a difference in the lives
of other women and how mentoring is simply caring
about and helping other women to live their lives
as a witness for the Lord.

for the Holidays
